The FIB alumni association: the "Cercle FIBER"

Objectives: To promote relations among its members by means of dinners, talks, Intranet, etc.; to promote and encourage the dissemination of information and communication technology culture; to foster professional retraining; to be a point of reference in circles of opinion; to promote the prestige of university courses in informatics; to enable members to keep in touch with the University and collaborate in the evolution of syllabuses.
Activities: Forums, colloquia and round tables on topics related to information and communication technology; conferences; dinners; discounts, trips and courses organised by Univers and Friends of UPC. job mart; training.
Requirements for membership: to be a FIB graduate, teacher or FIB administration and service staff (PAS) member, or a FIB final year student.

Catalan Association of Informatics Graduates

Objectives: To set up the Official Association of Informatics Engineers, and to perform as many of its functions as possible until it is up and running. To safeguard the prestige and dignity of its associates, ensuring their rights are respected. To promote the sharing of experiences in order to improve its service to society.
Activities: There is a lifelong teaching programme: courses, talks, agreements with the Catalan Institute of Technology (ICT), and Young Informatics Students (JEDI), etc. In addition to this, legal advice and services for members, etc., are provided. Alumni meetings.

FIB Cinema Club

Objectives: To disseminate and foster activities relating to film within the scope of this association.
Activities: Showing films, shorts, documentaries and other kinds of cinema. There is a cinema and video workshop to promote all aspects of cinema. Its own publication. Collaboration with other UPC publications. Awarding of a prize for the best university video. Establishing of relations with the film business world.

IAESTE-FIB

International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience

Student Delegate Rosa Ma. Figueres
Objectives: To send FIB students on work placements in foreign companies.
Activities: The main activity is the work placement itself. However, there is also the task, during the first semester of the year, of finding Spanish companies willing to take foreign students. The grants available to the School depend on the number of Spanish grants found by IAESTE-FIB.
Requirements for membership: To be a FIB student, and to be enrolled on at least the second year of the Degree in Informatics Engineering or one of the School's diploma courses.
