The software installed in the Windows 9x environment can be divided into two separate categories: programs that can be used by any user, and programs that are exclusively for Final Theses ( ).
It is forbidden to copy any of the software available on the server, with the exception of free programs (freeware, ). In order to clarify any doubts regarding the licence of any program, you can send an e-mail to lcfib@fib.upc.es.

UTILITIES
- MSDOS 6.22 (G:\DOS)
General MSDOS 6.22 operating system commands Microsoft. Some of these commands complement those provided by Windows 9x in the folder C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.
- Utilities (G:\GENERAL)
Various general purpose utilities: compressors (zip, unzip, arj, ...), editors (mel, list, ...), initialisation files for various software packages (inijdk, crearwin, ...), etc.
- Panda 6.0 Platinum (G:\PANDA60)
Antivirus software from the Spanish firm Panda Software. This software uses a signature file that is automatically updated once a month, with the option Intelligent Upgrades.
- EasyZip 2000 v4.0.1 (G:\EASYZIP)
Compressed file manager for Windows 9x, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000. It is completely free (freeware) for all purposes, and can be downloaded at the IPSoft website.

A visual programming environment from Microsoft. Includes Visual Basic 98, Visual C++ 98 and the MSDN Library.
- DJGPP 2.01 (G:\DJGPP)
A 32 bit C/C++ programming environment that includes the compiler and the gcc runtime, the bison and flex tools, a debugger and many GNU development utilities. In order to use it you have to run the inigcc command in the MSDOS window. All the documentation, the FAQ and the software can be found free of charge at www.delorie.com.
- FST (Fitted) Modula-2 3.1 (G:\M2)
A Modula-2 compiler with an integrated editor, the "make" utility, a linker, a makefile generator and an execution time profiler. In order to use it you have to run the inim2 command in the MSDOS window.
- Java Development Kit (G:\JAVA)
A command-line Java development kit, from JavaSoft. There are two versions of this kit installed: Version 1.1.8 with the Swing 1.0.3 libraries, and Version 1.2.2 with Swing 1.1.1. In order to use it you have to run the inijdk command in the MSDOS window.
- Turbo C++/Turbo Pascal (G:\BORLAND\TC and G:\BORLAND\TP)
Various old Borland (currently Inprise) compilers are available, such as Turbo C++ 3.0, Turbo Pascal 7.0, Turbo Assembler and Turbo Debugger 2.02. In order to use these programs, you have to run the initc or initp commands in the MSDOS window.

CLISP (Common Lisp 1997-07-22) (G:\CLISP95) ( , )
Common Lisp Implementation by Bruno Haible of Karlsruhe University (Germany). It supports the version of LISP described in the book "Common LISP: The Language" (2nd edition) and the standard ANSI Common Lisp. In order to use it you have to run the iniclisp command in the MSDOS window. It is free of charge and is distributed under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).

LEDA (R-4.1) (G:\LEDA)
LEDA is a library for data types and combinatorial algorithms. The "R" version can be used free of charge in academic and teaching environments. The most recently updated version of these libraries (for various programming languages) can be found in this link. In order to use them from the MSDOS window, you must run the inileda command (this will only work if you are working with a Windows 9x environment that is running Visual C++). In order to use it within the Visual C++ environment, please read point 3 of the file G:\LEDA\INSTALL.TXT.

Databases
- Informix 7.3 (G:\INFORMIX)
TheInformix Enterprise Command Centre and theSQL Editor are used to carry out the coursework for the subject "Database Design (DBD)" by accessing the ada_dbd database in Informix 7.3.
- Oracle 8.0.4 (G:\ORAWIN95)
Schema Manager, the SQL Worksheet and SQL Plus 8.0 allow access to the oradbd database in order to carry out coursework for the subject "Database Design (DBD)". This database and its homonym for Final Theses, orapfc, are written in Oracle 8.0.4.

Tool for Oracle Application Developers. This is a free program that allows access to Oracle databases in a graphical environment. This environment allows the execution of SQL commands, cross-references, PL/SQL code compilation, etc. It can be downloaded at the Quest website.
SUBJECT-SPECIFIC SOFTWARE

Programs that allow the logical design of databases with Chen diagrams. Version 5.0 is available as a folder from which you may install the program, or copy it onto disks for trial. Any doubts you may have regarding these programs should be addressed to the authors and/or your Final Thesis supervisor.
- Visual SO (G:\VISUALSO)
GPSS/H Release 2.0 (G:\GPSSH)
A student version of the software by Wolverine Software Corporation. It is limited to 100 blocks and 200 statements. In order to use it you have to run the inigpssh command in the MSDOS window, and call it with gpssh.
- Lindo Solver Suite (G:\LSUITE)
This software package includes various light versions of LINDO and LINGO (LINDO 5.3 for DOS and LINGO 3.0 for Windows). These programs solve integral and quadratic linear optimisation models, expressing them through a series of equations and formulae. You can obtain trial versions of this software at the Lindo webpage.
- Scada (G:\SCADA)
Xilinx Foundation F1.4 (G:\FNDTN)
Circuit design software for Xilinx devices. You can access the Flow Engine, Timing Analyzer, and PROM File Formatter, etc., from its Design Manager. This software is designed to make the programmable logic designer's job easier. The end result is a file that can be sent to an FPGA device. There is a trial kit available for this product.
