Conditions for participation: Students meeting the following requirements may participate in the Educational Cooperation Agreements:

  • To have obtained at least half of the course credits.
  • To have student insurance while the agreement is in place. Currently, student insurance covers one-year periods from 15 September to 14 September of the following year.

Limits to participation: Students may participate in Educational Cooperation Agreements for a maximum of

  • 80 hours per month during term time (October-May). Exceptions can be made to this limit when the agreement involves the carrying out of a Final Thesis.
  • 960 hours per academic year.

Academic value of work placement: Work experience carried out can have academic value in the following cases:

  • When the work involves the carrying out of a Final Thesis. The corresponding rules are the rules for Final Theses, mode B.
  • Awarding of free elective credits. Free elective credits may be awarded for work experience carried out as part of an Educational Cooperation Agreement: One credit for every 30 hours, amounting to a maximum of 15 for engineering degrees and 10 for engineering diplomas.

University-Business Relations Committee (CRUE):
The aim of this committee is to organise, promote and maintain the Educational Cooperation Agreements signed by FIB students. It is formed by a president (Vice-Dean of University Extension), two teachers, two students and an administrative and service staff (PAS) member.
It also has responsibilities regarding the academic value awarded for the realisation of these agreements.

Awarding of free elective credits. (approved by the Standing Committee on 7--2--96).

  • When submitting the documentation for the agreement, students must state how many credits they are claiming.
  • If applicable, students will receive a Preliminary Credit Acknowledgement Document, and will be assigned to a tutor. By default, the president of the CRUE will be the tutor.
  • Students may register the corresponding credits once they have received this preliminary document at any time throughout the year.
  • Once the CRUE agreement has come to an end, the tutor will decide whether or not to award the credits registered, and will give a mark. The credits will not be awarded before the mandatory reports by the student and the company are received (Appendixes III and IV of the agreement documentation).
  • The credits will be acknowledged on the student's personal transcript as of the trial period immediately after the end of the agreement.

If you need to take care of any personal paperwork (signing of agreements, processing of extensions, free elective credit acknowledgement applications, etc.) or just need more information, please contact the School's Educational Cooperation Agreement Management Office or the Vice-Dean of University Extension.
